Ruth Childs

Ruth Childs is an Anglo-American dancer and choreographer, born in 1984 in London. She grew up in the United States, where she studied dance and music. In 2003, she moved to Geneva to join the Ballet Junior de Genève. She then collaborated with numerous artists, including Foofwa d’Imobilité, La Ribot, Gilles Jobin, Massimo Furlan, Marco Berrettini, and Yasmine Hugonnet. Since 2015, she has also been engaged in the re-staging of early works by Lucinda Childs. In 2014, she founded the company Scarlett’s to develop a personal practice combining dance, performance, and music. In 2016, she received a grant from the Canton of Geneva and a residency in Berlin. In 2018, she created The Goldfish and the Inner Tube with Stéphane Vecchione, followed by her first solo fantasia in 2019 at ADC Geneva. In 2021, she developed the project delicate people with Cécile Bouffard. In 2022, her solo Blast! received the Swiss Performing Arts Award. She created her first group piece Fun Times in 2024. Her work is presented internationally, and she is an artist in residence at Arsenic in Lausanne.
