“Cremation, forbidden by all religions in Lebanon, is therefore illegal. And citizenship is contingent on belonging to a religious community.”
In this performance, Linah Saneh plans to have surgery and then have her severed limbs burned, turning her body into a battlefield where the promise of freedom and modernity clashes with nationalist and communitarian forces.
