Amir Reza Koohestani came back to Iran in July 2009, shortly after the June demonstrations. Inspired by his return, the play tells the story of Ali, a young man who breaks the law governing weapon carrying, during his military service. The staging bears signs of Koohestani’s training as a cinematographer. It is also influenced by tazieh, a traditionnal theatre of mourning.
