La Villette – Paris and the Festival d'Automne à Paris present this show as a co-realisation.
Following on from the resounding success of One Song presented at the Festival in 2023, the multi-faceted artist Miet Warlop returns with INHALE DELIRIUM EXHALE, a powerful new tour de force. In an empty space, a wave rises and breaks, transforming a simple idea into an extraordinary experience.
In time with the rhythm of the tides, the visual ideas pile up until they eventually form a mountain. Miet Warlop translates in a sensitive way the inner turmoil that accompanies her creative process, a wave that swells in her mind and only breaks when it comes into contact with the outside world. On the stage, a group of performers move around amidst 1,500 meters of silk fabric, appearing and disappearing all the while, set to music by the Belgian label DEEWEE. Bodies and fabrics intertwine in a whirlwind of images, mixing humour and unexpected references to Greek mythology in a subtle way. For Miet Warlop, art is an experience to be lived through, in reference to ritual concerts and choreographic objects. The same goes for this project, in which we are confronted with the unexpected and find ourselves immersed in an elusive and infinitely fascinating visual universe.
