Alain Gomis
Alain Gomis is a Franco-Senegalese screenwriter and director. In 2002, his first feature film, L'Afrance, tells the story of the difficulties encountered by a Senegalese student in France. The film won a Silver Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival. Tey (Today), his third feature film with Saul Williams, was presented at the Berlinale in competition and won a Golden Etalon at Fespaco. He returned to the Berlinale in 2017 with Félicité and won the Grand Jury Prize, followed by a second Etalon d'Or at Fespaco. The film represented Senegal at the Oscars, where it was shortlisted for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2018, he created the Yennenga Centre in Dakar: a socio-cultural film centre and a film school to develop production and post-production in West Africa. In 2026, he presented Dao, his sixth feature film.
