Dalila Belaza

Through dance, Dalila Belaza seeks to create a utopian space where the intimate and the universal can meet. For twenty years, she distinguished herself as a performer and close artistic collaborator of choreographer Nacera Belaza. Together, they explored the deep memory of bodies and conceived dance as a form of inner journey, united by a shared rigor and approach to movement. Following a trip to Aveyron in 2019, Dalila Belaza began exploring new choreographic directions. At the end of 2020, she founded hiya compagnie and, in 2021, created her first work, Au cœur. This large-scale project opened up a new field of research that has since guided her artistic practice, leading to the creation of the solo Figures in 2022 and Rive in 2023. Both works were presented at the Festival d’Automne in 2024. Through her work, she seeks to create intersections between the memory of folk rituals and the gestures of contemporary dance.
