Mafalda Pequenino
Mafalda Pequenino is a multi-faceted Brazilian artist: actress, producer, theatre director, writer, dancer and stilt-walker; she is also an arts teacher and cultural leader. Her work reaches out to audiences of all ages, with a particular focus on disseminating African and Afro-Brazilian arts and cultures. She works for television and film, but is also very active in theatre and circus. Mafalda Pequenino is one of the leaders and artistic directors of the Ilú Obá de Min collective, which - founded in 2004 - now brings together nearly 400 women and opens the São Paulo carnival each year with its percussionists, dancers and stilt-walkers, always paying tribute to black female figures. She shares the stage with Gabriela Carneiro da Cunha in Tapajós, which will be presented in December 2025 at Ircam by the Festival d'Automne and the Centre Pompidou.
