Art is a form of confrontation, and Lia Rodrigues wages her battle on the frontlines of her genre, a fusion of visual arts, dance and performance art. In Brazil, her dance troupe, the Companhia de Danças, performs in some of the country’s remotest regions and Rodrigues, a tireless advocate of society’s underdogs, is a common sight in the urban favelas. Creation is her latest journey on the road beyond convention.
