[Visual Arts / Performance]Hema Upadhyay is a visual artist whose work is rooted in her personal experience – her parents’ move from Pakistan to India, her own move to Mumbai – but evokes more generally the mutations of contemporary India and the theme of migration. The cities she depicts reflect the organic, haphazard development of Mumbai – a colorful labyrinth which nonetheless betrays deep social inequalities
