The Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord and the Festival d'Automne à Paris present this show in partnership.

Deliberately not shying away from emotion, DameChevaliers immerses itself in Monique Wittig's The Straight Mind, with a voice and sound firmly anchored in the future. Via shifting forms and formats, the collective endeavours to support the work of activists, and explore the emotions that stem from collective political action.

Through its unveiling of the political foundations of language and investigations into the construction of the universal through the prism of gender oppression, the work of Monique Wittig has left a significant impact on contemporary thought. Following the staged reading, set to music, of Monique Wittig's Le Voyage sans fin, the DameChevaliers collective, composed of drummer and musician Caro Geryl and actress Adèle Haenel, now turns to the cult collection The Straight Mind & Other Essays by the author, a major figure in the Women's Liberation Movement (MLF) and radical lesbianism, and pioneer of gender studies. In dialogue with Monique Wittig, DameChevaliers lights a fire centre-stage, around which we gather in order to discuss, reflect upon and invent another world. Artists and spectators alike meet at nightfall, for a show which prompts us to reflect together. In the context of a time and space on the fringes of the world, and which brings with it a palpable form of relief, thought unfolds in such a way that it channels and multiplies the power of each and every one of us. In this circle of spoken words, our emotions get tangled up, enabling us to see more clearly.
