Matthieu Bareyre

Matthieu Bareyre is a writer, director, cinematographer and editor. He has directed three documentaries: Nocturnes (2015), a medium-length film that was screened and won awards at the Cinéma du réel festival, amongst others, and L’Époque (2019), his first feature film. Winner of the Best Debut Film Award from the French Film Critics’ Union, L’Époque received a special mention at the Locarno Film Festival, where the film had its world premiere, and was recognised at several festivals, including the Premiers Plans Festival in Angers. His latest film, Le Journal d’une femme nwar, co-written with Rose-Marie Ayoko Folly and Marion Siéfert, pioneers an original production format: initially produced by the Théâtre de La Commune CDN in Aubervilliers, it is being previewed on stage before being broadcast on Arte in 2024. In theatre, Matthieu Bareyre has collaborated on the casting, writing and direction of Marion Siéfert’s productions, notably DU SALE!, _jeanne_dark_ and, more recently, Daddy. In 2022, he presented *Pièce d’actualité n°18 Le Journal d’une femme nwar as part of the Festival d’Automne.
