Pol Pi

Pol Pi is a transmasculine Brazilian choreographic artist based in France since 2013. He develops an expanded choreographic practice centered on memory, translation, and dance archives. A graduate in classical music in Brazil, he completed the Master Exerce program at CCN Montpellier. Before turning to contemporary dance, he studied music, theatre, and butoh, and worked as an actor, musical director, and sound designer. Between 2010 and 2013 in São Paulo, he created his first works presented in various festivals (SESC Pompeia, Centro Cultural São Paulo, Itaú Cultural), directed the project Free to Fall São Paulo, and danced for several choreographers. In France, he has performed for Eszter Salamon, Latifa Laâbissi and Nadia Lauro, Pauline Simon, Aude Lachaise, Anna Anderegg, and Anne Collod. In 2016, he founded the company NO DRAMA in Paris and created several works including Ecce (H)omo, Alexandre, Me Too, and Galatée. A member of the Brazilian collective Danças em Transições, he directed the film Tangly (2021). In 2022, he presented Schönheit ist Nebensache or La Beauté s’avère accessoire at the Festival d’Automne as part of Échelle Humaine at Lafayette Anticipations.
