What unites the two choreographers Nacera Belaza and Katerina Andreo is an undying urge to dance. In a diptych conceived for the Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon performers, they respond to each other in two new works bringing together multiple resonances.
In her latest piece Untitled.1 for the Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon dancers, Nacera Belaza develops an almost hypnotic repetition of gesture and movement in order to make us live an experience of dispossession. We are prompted to let go, in order that we may become aware of the presence of our bodies in the world in a different way. The show is about making yourself available, and listening to what the moving bodies have to tell you.
WE NEED SILENCE by Katerina Andreou echoes this approach in a direct way. Our senses overwhelmed by means of physical intensity pushed to the extreme and the upbeat rhythms of house music, this collective piece, with its foundations in the solo BSTRD, invites us to a paradoxical experience. We are invited to listen to what we no longer hear and see what we no longer see. In other words, to impose silence, through physical and sound-based saturation.
