La Fondation de France s’associe au Festival d’Automne pour l’accompagnement artistique de nora chipaumire.
Part concert part performance, in which voice, gesture and sound collide, #punk draws upon nora chipaumire’s founding years in Zimbabwe, as a means of embodying, in the present, punk energy and rebellion.
In the midst of the 1970’s, the movement took hold in American counter-culture and found a particularly fertile breeding ground at the heart of a New York music scene nourished by poetry and revolt. Its echoes spread far and wide, notably thanks to the figure of Patti Smith, a leading proponent of a raw, unadorned performance style, carried on by the likes of Shamar Watt, David Gagliardi, Kwamina Biney and nora chipaumire. Wthin it, the choreographer and dancer embodied a powerful and subversive female body, totally aligned with a movement the aesthetics and ethics of which remain intact decades after. First performed in 2018, #PUNK, the first part of a trilogy which also explores Congolese pop and rumba via the figures of Grace Jones and Rit Nzele, is presented in a new version as part of this invitation on behalf of the Festival d’Automne.
