El Conde de Torrefiel
El Conde de Torrefiel, led by Tanya Beyeler (born in 1980 in Switzerland) and Pablo Gisbert (born in 1982 in Spain), is an artistic project based in Barcelona, Spain. The collective’s work is rooted in research that brings together various disciplines, exploring issues as diverse as the notion of immediate temporality, the relationship between the personal and the political, and the links between rationality and the meaning that language gives to things. El Conde de Torrefiel was founded in 2010 with the play La historia del rey vencido por el aburrimiento. The Festival d’Automne has supported the collective’s work since 2016 with the play La posibilidad que desaparece frente al paisaje, presented at the Centre Pompidou. In 2018, El Conde de Torrefiel premiered its seventh production, *La Plaza*, which was followed the following year by a spin-off, Kultur, as part of the Festival Actoral in Marseille. The collective has been invited to the Festival d’Automne in 2023 as part of the opening programme with Ultraficción nr. 1, performed on the Reuilly lawn. In 2025, they will present La luz de un lago at the Odéon Théâtre de l’Europe.
