The Fondation de France is joining forces with the Festival d’Automne to support nora chipaumire’s artistic development.
nora chipaumire transforms the OFF—the legendary garage at the Ménagerie de verre—into a vast sound system, the beating heart of her carte noire. A wall of speakers with a multitude of sonic textures becomes a space for listening, sharing, and experimentation, open to all. Vinyl records, dub sets, radio shows, discussions, and performances take place one after another, turning this space into a meeting place where sound opens up new ways of being together. The sound system is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
nora chipaumire presents Syllart Records, an independent Parisian label specializing in African and Afro-Latin music founded by Senegalese producer Ibrahima Sylla. Through the sound system set up by the artist and drawing on the archives of the Château Rouge label—now headed by Fanta Sylla—this event will bring to life several decades of African and Afro-diasporic music throughout the duration of the carte noire and during a public gathering on Thursday, September 17. A journey through memories, cultural exchanges, and sounds that have shaped both Paris and the African continent.
